Interest on education loan for law students in India can be deducted from taxable income fully for 8 consecutive years, but only under the Old Tax Regime. Only the interest amount is deductible, not the principal amount. Under the new tax regime introduced from 2026 onwards, this is no longer possible. But it offers tax breaks till \u20b912 lakhs, so opt in to the Old Regime to use Section 80E.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Pro-Tip:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Apply to the Vidyalaxmi portal and opt for the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PM-Vidyalaxmi<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> scheme benefits while applying.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Repayment_What_to_Expect\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repayment: What to Expect<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The moratorium period equals your course duration plus 12 months (so, you won&#8217;t need to repay anything until the period is finished).
